The importance of proper cardiovascular shoes is often under-rated. Individuals cover doing the exercises perfectly, planning out a workout program, eating right, hydrating properly, and all varieties of other workout recommendations, but they hardly ever get to talk about good fitness center shoes. But ask any fitness trainer and they will explain to you how important it is. Of course, if you are taking an aerobics class, then foot-wear doesn't matter. But for many other cardiovascular exercises (with swimming and a few other excepted) proper cardiovascular shoes are a requirement. The type of aerobic shoes depends on what you are doing for your work-out. If you are a serious runner, you require running shoes. These are lighter than other varieties of cardiovascular shoes, and thicken padding for where runners need it. They're no good for playing tennis, for example, as they provide virtually no lateral ankle support. For tennis, or lots of other exercises that require more than just moving in a straight line, you must have a different kind of cardiovascular shoes: cross trainers or tennis shoes. Fundamentally, both of these aerobic shoes are about the same thing - the contemporary version of the fitness center shoe, with a whole lot of padding, yet still a low top to permit some flexibility and movement at the ankle.

On the other hand, if you participate in basketball, you need bigger sturdier cardiovascular shoe to adequately safeguard your ankle. These are called high tops, and they come up all the way to the top of the ankle. They are great for this sport, because you are repetitively jumping high, bursting into swift sprints in assorted directions, and doing numerous other things that can easily injure your ankle. They safeguard you from injuries much better than any other sort of cardiovascular shoes, and you will see nearly all basketball players wearing them. They are not good for the varieties of sprints that you have in tennis, however, and so are almost never if ever worn by tennis players. Then again, if you are a cross country runner, you need different cardiovascular shoes completely. They will be kind of a combination between running shoes and light hiking boots, with a somewhat light build and plenty of traction on the bottom. If you go for a career in personal training this is a single one of the aspects of fitness you have to know all about - but that is another story entirely.
